Andrea Gambill

In 1976, Andrea’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Judy, died after a five-month coma, as the result of a car-truck crash. A year later, she formed one of the earliest United States chapters of The Compassionate Friends and helped to establish the first TCF National Board of Directors.

In 1987, she founded Bereavement magazine and owned that business and publication until 2000. The past twenty-seven years of grief counseling, support group leadership, writing and editing have given Andrea an education and insight she had never dreamed possible. Over the years, she has worked closely with various kinds of support groups, and she has spoken to conferences, churches, civic groups, support groups, medical/hospital groups, schools and funeral directors around the country.

Andrea authored the booklets "Tinsel and Tears" (a guide to getting through the holidays) and Do and Don’t Suggestions for the Bereaved and Their Caregivers, and she has written two booklets for Abbey Press on the death of a child.
